The Casa Barral Museum

Calafell’s Museu Casa Barral (Barral House Museum), installed in a former fishermen’s shop the was home to the poet, writer and politician Carlos Barral, opened its doors to the public on 8 September 2004.

Since then, the Museum has welcomed around 10,000 visitors and has been the venue for numerous different activities, including concerts, book launches, talks and speeches, poetry readings, literary conferences, writing workshops, exhibitions on traditional trades, children’s tales readings, and more.

The mission of the Museum is, in addition to studying and promoting the maritime past of the town and the literary and publishing work of Carlos Barral, to offer the public a space where those interested in literature and culture in general can find a response to their concerns.
